Allen Moe

March 4, 1927 ~ October 16, 2015 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Allen Moe died Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson at the age of 88.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 1:30 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson.  Rev. Kendall Stelter will officiate and interment will be at Grace Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, from 4-7:00 PM at the Johnson Memorial Home Chapel with a prayer service at 7:00 PM led by Pastor Bruce Rodrick.

Allen Jean Moe was born March 4, 1927 in Providence Township, Lac qui Parle County, MN  the son of Edward and Leota (Wiese) Moe, Sr.  He grew up in Maxwell Township and graduated from Dawson High School in 1944.  Allen attended Augsburg College before serving in the US Army.  After his discharge, he attended the University of MN.  
Allen was united in marriage to Virginia Fagerlie  on June 3, 1951 in Dawson, MN and later that same year moved to Norton, KS, and two years later, they moved to Bloomington, MN.  In 1958, they moved to Hagerstown, IN, and then to New Castle IN five years later.  He was a project engineer for Perfect Circle.  In 1968, they moved back to Dawson in order to farm with Allen’s father, Ed Sr. and brother Ed Jr.  Allen and Virginia remained on the farm in Maxwell Township until 1995, when they moved in to Dawson.  In June of 2007 Allen  moved to the Johnson Memorial Home.

He was active at Grace Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council.  He enjoyed reading and politics.

He is survived by his children: Deb (Bill) Smith of Palatine, IL, Jeff (Deb) Moe of Dawson, and Brad (Tami) Moe of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren: Becky and Justin Smith, Willa Moe and Casey Moe; two sisters: Patricia (Doug) Carpenter of Naples, FL and Marvel Anderson of Lilydale, MN; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Moe of Mendota Heights, MN; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia in 2005; two brothers: Derlyn (Pauline) Moe and Ed Moe Jr.; and a brother-in-law, Everett Anderson.
