Bernice Fremo, of Boyd, died late Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 78.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd. Pastor Lori Wold will officiate and interment will be at St. Petri Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 5-7:00 with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.
Bernice Jeanette Fremo was born June 12, 1935 in Dawson, MN the daughter of Paul and Alma (Renslow) Sandbakken. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dawson. She grew up in Dawson and Lac qui Parle Village and graduated from Milan High School in 1956. Bernice spent a couple of years as a nanny for the Robertson family in Dawson before being united in marriage with Gerald Fremo at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson on March 2, 1963. They lived and farmed near Boyd. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd where she taught Sunday school and was active in circle, ladies aid and bible study. She was also active with her husband in Halling Lag. Bernice enjoyed collecting bells, spoons, salt shakers, and magnets. She also enjoyed house plants. She will be remembered as a very loving and caring mother and was always satisfied with her life.
She is survived by a son, Brian (and Rebecca) Fremo of St. Peter, MN; a daughter, Kathryn Fremo of Boyd; three grandsons: Winston and Ellet Taylor and Cyrus Fremo; two sisters: Lorraine Folkestad of Montevideo and Aggie (and Stanford) Storlien of Dawson; brothers-in-law: Roger Fremo of Moorhead and David (Anne) Fremo of Centerville, WA; and nieces, cousins, and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Gerald in 2009; brother-in-law, Gordon Folkestad; sister-in-law, Shirley Fremo; and nephews: Sid Fremo and David Folkestad.
