Jeannette Marie (Hahn) Lund was born November 20, 1970 at Pensacola, FL the daughter of James and Diane (Anderson) Hahn.  She moved with her family at a young age to Dawson and graduated from Dawson - Boyd High School in 1989.  Jeannette graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead in 1993 and was hired by the Dawson – Boyd School district as an elementary school teacher and strings instructor.  She was united in marriage with Bruce Lund June 19, 1993 at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson.   In addition to Britta, they were blessed with two boys, John and Ryan.

Jeannette filled her life with many activities.  She was very active in area churches.  Jen started playing organ while in high school and continue throughout her life.  She played for Lac qui Parle Lutheran, Our Saviour's of Baxter, Saron of Montevideo, Grace, and Providence Valley.   She taught Sunday School, Bible School, sang in the choir, led the youth choirs, was involved in Luther League, WELCA, and served on the church council.

Jeannette was hired by Dawson-Boyd ISD 378 in June of 1993.  She started out with 19 string students and through the years, made it grow to over 200 students this past year.   Her passion was to teach music to all students.  She understood that music made students better beings.  She never gave up on any student of any ability.  She strived to make it fun and learning.   Jeannette was instrumental in helping to bring back musicals to the school.  She worked many hours with writing scores, building sets with her husband, and molding students and community members into fine ensembles for the productions.   She extended her musical abilities by conducting the Minnesota FFA State Band for 23 years, for which she received the honorary American FFA Degree.

Jeannette enjoyed many outdoor activities including softball, camping, water skiing, shooting, taking walks, camp fires, and hunting deer.  She also had a deep appreciation for living on the farm and enjoying all the benefits it had to offer.   Jen enjoyed the beautiful sunsets and spending nights looking at the stars.

The most important thing in Jeannette’s life were her children.  She quickly became a compassionate step mother for Britta.  She encouraged Britta to play the violin, followed her many activities, and was very proud when she chose to go to her alma mater, Concordia.  Her boys meant everything to her.  She helped coach their ball teams, taught them music, was involved in the Cub Scout and Boy Scout activities.  She was very proud of them and all that they had accomplished.
