Marlys (Howard) Olson

Marlys Olson died Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson, MN at the age of 78.

A private graveside service will be held at the Grace Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.

Marlys Delores (Howard) Olson was born on December 24, 1938 in Correll, MN to Wilbert and Emma (Rienke) Howard.  She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton, MN.  She attended school in Appleton, MN.  She was united in marriage to Norman Olson on October 29, 1955.  They had four children together.  Besides taking care of the children, Marlys worked in the nursing field for several years.

Marlys enjoyed quilting, cards and traveling.  She also would attend activities at the Montevideo, Boyd and Dawson Senior Citizen Centers.  Marlys was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson.

Marlys is survived by her children: Jeffrey Olson of Dawson, Gail Horton of Clark, MO, Janice Olson of Dawson, Daniel Olson of Granite Falls and Joseph (Lauren) Olson of Gulf Port, MS; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers: LeRoy “Jim” Howard, Bruce Howard, Bradly Howard, and Mark Howard and sisters: Mary Ann Folstad and Terry Lease; as well as other extended relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Norman died in October 2007; and a brother, Marvin Howard.

Memorial are preferred to Grace Lutheran Church.
