Peggy Quenemoen

March 29, 1936 ~ May 3, 2016 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Peggy Quenemoen, of Dawson, died Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the Johnson Memorial Care Center at the age of 80.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson with Pastor Brooke Apple officiating.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 5-7:00 PM with a prayer service starting at 6:30 PM at the Johnson Memorial Care Center Chapel.

Marguerite “Peggy” (Peterson) Quenemoen was born the youngest of three children on March 29, 1936 in Florence, SD to Clarence & Anna (Mallgren) Peterson.  She attended school in Florence, until her family moved to Dawson, where she graduated from Dawson High School in 1954.  Peggy was united in marriage to Lyle Quenemoen on October 22, 1961 at Riverside Lutheran Church in Dawson.  Peggy and Lyle had two children: Lane and Sharyl.  Peggy worked at the Dawson Creamery, the Dawson Clinic, and at the Johnson Memorial Hospital Office.  Peggy and Lyle also farmed in Cerro Gordo Township before retiring and moving to Dawson in 1982.  She moved to the Johnson Memorial Care Center in 2001.

She liked to bowl, go to the casino, watch game shows on TV, do word search puzzles, and most of all, she loved to watch the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.  She enjoyed getting visitors and especially going out with her family.  She attended numerous Care Center activities, including bingo, cards, readings, exercise and church.  She most recently led the resident Council meetings as President.  She belonged to a bowling league, the VFW and American Legion auxiliaries where she was an avid seller of poppies.  She traveled to California, the Black Hills, Canada and Las Vegas.  And she loved ice cream with a passion.

Peggy is survived by her son, Lane (Kim) Quenemoen of Montevideo, MN; a daughter, Sharyl (Alexander) Vicino of Rockford, MN; 12 grandchildren: Kristen, Derek, Rachel, Breanna, Logan, Athena, Anthony, Angelique, Tim, Jen, Matt and Ashley; and 6 great-grandchildren: Ethan, Paris, Kelsey, Brady, Bryan and Collin.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lyle; her sister, Elayne Christie; and a brother, James Peterson.
