Mrs. Sperry was my piano teacher for ~6 years in the 1990s. She and Mrs. Solie (my violin teacher) were my mentors and role models. They both had high expectations and a deep love for music. They were both strong and smart women who I wanted to emulate. Mrs. Sperry made me want to practice, and our piano books are still marked up by her notes ("Beautiful!"). I'm sad to hear of her passing, but grateful to have learned from her.
