Carol Rensberger

Carol Rensberger passed away on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson at the age of 95.

There will be a memorial service on July 10, 2021 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Dawson with Pastor Herb Rotunda officiating.
Arrangements are with Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.

Carol Maxine (Anderson) Rensberger was born in Summit, South Dakota on March 11, 1925 to Andrew and Cecelia (From) Anderson. She married Ralph Rensberger on September 12, 1948 in Milbank, South Dakota. Ralph and Carol moved to Dawson in 1950 to establish the Rensberger Rexall Drug Store. She and Ralph were partners in the business where her specialty was managing the store’s inventory and gift shop and serving as the greeting committee and joke teller. Her many interests included spectator sports and music events for her four children, study club, VFW Legion Auxiliary, Christian Women’s Club, reading, gardening, and singing in the First Presbyterian Church choir. She was active in her church, teaching Sunday School, serving as a Ruling Elder and as President of United Presbyterian Women. She was a Cub Scout den mother for several years. Carol and Ralph enjoyed 10 winters in Mesa, Arizona following decades of enjoyment at their summer cabin on Big Stone Lake.

Carol is survived by her sons: Keith (Mary Beth) and Lee (Debra), and daughter, Julie (Tom) Leever. She has been blessed with seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; daughter, Janet; great-grandson, Hunter Rensberger; her parents; and five siblings. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions could be made to First Presbyterian Church of Dawson or Johnson Memorial Health Services.
