Andrea Kae Sandven

Andrea Kae Sandven, of Dawson, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018, at Avera McKennan Sioux Falls Healthcare in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 73.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 1:30 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson with Rev. Kendall Stelter officiating. Interment will be Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens, rural Montevideo. 

Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson with a prayer service starting at 7:00 PM.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Andrea Kae Sandven was born on October 6, 1945 in Montevideo to Milo and Doris (Stratmoen) Nash.  She grew up in the Montevideo area and attended school in Montevideo, graduating in 1964.  She married David Sandven on April 2, 1966 at Jevnaker Lutheran Church in rural Montevideo.  They made their home in the Milan and Watson area before moving to Dawson in 1969.  They had five children: Stacey, Aaron, Sarah, Stephanie, and Andrew.  Andrea worked as a CNA at Johnson Memorial Care Center for over 20 years.

Andrea enjoyed sewing, knitting, and quilting. She also enjoyed going to the lake with her family and fishing with her husband.  In later years she would spend her time on word finds, bingo and coloring. Family fondly remembers that Andrea was a wonderful cook and baker.  Her famous goulash was a favorite of children and grandchildren. 

Andrea  is survived by her children: Stacey (Jonathan) Richardson, Dawson, Sarah (Brent) Sandven-Moseng, Dawson, Stephanie (Erwin) Miller, Barnesville, Andrew (Ashley) Sandven, Dawson; 8 grandchildren: Faith, Hope, Ellie, Ayden, Erwin, Ava, David, Ainsley; 3 step-grandchildren: Emily, Haley, Danielle; mother, Doris Nash, Montevideo; brother: Kenneth (Synnova) Nash, Montevideo; sisters: Karin (David) Olson, Big Bend, Becky (Nick) Kostuik, Grand Rapids as well as extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Milo Nash; husband, David Sandven, and son, David Aaron Sandven.
