Ina Marie Olson was born on October 19, 1936 in Boyd, MN to Rudolph Joseph and Ida Pauline (Lynne) Fousek. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd. Ina was a graduate of Boyd High-School where she enjoyed playing clarinet, acting, and choir. She graduated in 1954 and became an LPN after attending the Swedish Hospital Nursing Program. On Easter Sunday, April 1, 1956, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Olson. To this union, Laura, Carla and Sheila were born. After living in Minneapolis and farming in Milan and Madison, they moved to their current home in Dawson in 1965.

Ina spent over 42 years working as a nurse, most of which were at the Johnson Memorial Hospital and Clinic. She was well respected as a very caring and compassionate nurse, thoroughly enjoying the patients and staff. Ina was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. She was also an active member of the VFW Auxiliary and Eastern Star. In earlier years she enjoyed golf and camping with her family. She would crank up the music and dance throughout the house. Ina had a flair for fashion and took great pride in her home and family. She will always be remembered for her sense of humor and unique way of teaching her daughters and grandchildren life lessons. Ina and Lawrence went to Australia, took several cruises and traveled with family. Last summer she stayed in the Black Hills, which created many treasured memories. In August she returned to Alexandria, where her daughter lives. Ina was blessed to have her family take her traveling and attending a lot of concerts, loving the shopping and dining varieties along the way.

Ina passed away on August 2, 2019, at the age of 82, surrounded by her daughters. They say people die twice. Once when they stop breathing and a second time, a bit later, when someone says their name for the last time. Ina’s memory will live on forever.  We will cherish her life forever in our hearts.
