Jim Westfield, of Dawson, died Monday, October 16, 2017 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 55.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Pastor Kendall Stelter will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-7:00 PM at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. There will also be visitation at the church for one hour before the service on Friday.
James Elroy Westfield was born on May 10, 1962 in Canby, MN to Gerald and Ardyce (Larson) Westfield, and grew up in Dawson. Jim attended Dawson - Boyd High School and graduated in 1980. He worked for Westfield Construction which later became Westfield Excavating. Jim had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening, canning, and hunting.
Jim is survived by his daughters: Erika (Raymond Starin) Westfield, Red Wing, MN, Megan (Brandon) Schake, Estelline, SD, and Emily (Jordan Eckert) Westfield, Brandt, SD; four grandchildren: Kinsley and Kaiper Schake and Maci and Lydia Eckert; brothers: Terry (Beverly) Westfield, Dawson and Mark (Bonnie) Westfield, Granite Falls; sister, Janet (Shawn) Sumner, Dawson; significant other, Janet Laubenthal; brother-in-law, Jim Brown, Dawson; his dog, Brandy and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jackie Brown.
