Richard Helgeson, of Dawson, died Monday, February 12, 2018 at the Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson, MN at the age of 72.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday April 21, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson with burial at Grace Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be held for one hour before the service.
Richard Helgeson was born in Dawson on June 14th, 1945 to Helmer and Alice (Crosby) Helgeson. He lived on the farm and attended District 14 school in the lower grades and later Dawson Public School. He graduated in 1963 and went on to attend Moorhead State University majoring in music education. He taught for several years and then became a salesman for Demoline Co in the sale of music uniforms and accessories. He was the top salesperson for many years in Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin. He lived by the lake in South Haven, MN for many years and enjoyed books and fishing.
Richard was an accomplished trumpet player and loved his trumpet very much. When his health failed he went on disability and moved back to Dawson about 10 years ago.
He is survived by his siblings: Ronald Helgeson, Carol Ellefson, James (Lois Ann) Helgeson; sister-in- law Susan Helgeson as well as numerous cousins and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jon Helgeson, sister, Wanda Helgeson, sister-in-law Gracelyn Helgeson and brother-in-law Donald Ellefson.
