Sonia Horst

Sonia Horst, Dawson died on Friday, August 24, 2018 at her home in Dawson at the age of 69.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Dawson Covenant Church with Rev. Erik Carlson officiating.  Burial will be in the Dawson Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Sonia Joyce (Ford) Horst was born in Aberdeen, SD on October 5, 1948 to Loren and Lillian (Grote) Ford.  She grew up in the Mansfield, SD area and graduated from Cresbard High School in 1967.  She then attended Northern State University and Presentation College.  She was united in marriage to Dale Horst on July 6, 1969.  They had two boys, Todd and Brian.  Dale and Sonia lived in St. Paul, MN until 1994, when they moved to Dawson, MN.  

Sonia was office manager for a mortgage company while living in St. Paul.  She was a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America as a Den leader and then later serving on the District Council.  She enjoyed sewing in her spare time.  She cherished her time spent with her grandchildren and spent as much time as she could.

Sonia is survived by her sons: Todd (Samantha) Horst and Brian Horst, both of Dawson; five grandchildren: Robert, Kyle, Derek, Vidalia, Joshua; siblings: Kelli Ford, Aberdeen, Vicki (Ken Wittmeier) Ford, Sioux Falls, Sylvia Ford, Aberdeen, Laurie (Donald) Amundson, Twin Cities, Roger (Roxanne) Ford, Las Vegas, David (Peggy) Ford, Aberdeen and Steven (Linda) Ford, Madison, SD; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dale; and a brother, Q Allen in infancy.
