Barbara DeBeer Obituary

Barbara DeBeer of Montevideo died on Monday, June 5, 2023 at her home at the age of 73.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 11:00AM at the United Methodist Church at Montevideo with Rev. Sam Kautz officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.

Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 5 to 7 PM at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo with a prayer service to begin at 6:30pm.  The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Barbara Jo DeBeer was born on July 26, 1949, at the Montevideo Hospital to Lloyd and Doris (Bourne) Williamson. Barbara was baptized and confirmed at the Montevideo United Methodist Church. Barb graduated from Maynard High School in 1967 and soon met her husband-to-be, Roger DeBeer. They were married at the Montevideo United  Methodist Church on June 7, 1969. They became members of Rosewood United Methodist Church and raised their family within that church home.

Barb and Roger were blessed with 4 children: Thomas “Lee” Williamson DeBeer, Lynn Dwayne (Anne) DeBeer, Mark Eric (Melissa) DeBeer, and Heather Jo DeBeer and 3 grandchildren: Lorenzo Thomas Williamson DeBeer, Zachary Alan DeBeer, and Payden Gail DeBeer. Barb was employed by Chippewa County for 27 years and was fortunate to be able to retire in 2013.

Mom was an excellent cook and baker. She loved to share and everyone was happy to accept, especially her Christmas cookies and oxtail soup. She even had a drop off route! Mom enjoyed gardening and loved her garden shed. She left Dad specific instructions to take care of it. After all us kids left home, she liked mowing the lawn. She also loved reading and playing board games with the grandkids and attending anything the grandkids were participating in.

Barb is survived by her husband, children, and grandchildren; brothers, Harvey (Bonnie) Williamson, John (Sheree) Williamson, Bob (Rhonda) Williamson; sisters, Paulette (Ralph) Jelen, Mary (Bruce) Anderson, Nan (Mike L.) Abel; sister-in-law, Karleen Williamson; and many nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd & Doris; father and mother-in-law, Bronno & Grace DeBeer; and brother, Thomas L. Williamson; 2 nephews, Robert John Thompson and Travis Lloyd Williamson; niece-in-law, Connie Thompson; great-nephew, Carter John Williamson; and brother and sister-in-law, Leo & Carol Sussner.
Blessed be her memory.
