Phillip Jordahl Obituary

Arrangements are with Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.

Phillip was born in Riverside Township, baptized in Trinity Lutheran, and was confirmed at Trinity in 1943.   He was Secretary of the Riverside Rockets 4H Club in 1941. He attended District 102 east of Dawson and then attended Dawson High School, graduating in 1947.

He was a member National Guard.  He was honorably discharged in 1962 as a 2nd Lieutenant.  He was stationed in Alabama during the Korean Conflict and took officers training in Ft. Sill, OK.

Phillip was a long time employee of Land O Lakes Felco until his retirement in 1991.  He had many hobbies including fishing, hunting, golf and travel.

He loved woodworking and built many tables, bedroom sets, several chests of drawers, and many shelves. His largest project was the home he built in 1976 for himself, and Blanche, which was a labor of love for him. Blanche was by his side shingling, taping sheet rocking, etc.  Years later, he added another out building for storage.

Phil and Blanche enjoyed travelling and visited 48 of the 50 states including Alaska 4 times and Washington State 15 times.  The only states they missed were Hawaii and an eastern state.  They also visited Canada and Norway.  They rarely flew anywhere on their travels as Phil would say, that if they flew, they would miss out on many of the out of the way scenic stops. They often took along their golf clubs, so they could play an interesting course when they came upon one.

He had a sparkle in his eye, was very kind and humble, had a great sense of humor, and an unforgettable chuckle.  He so enjoyed playing games with his kids, grandkids & great-grandkids.  You could find him coloring pages, building Lego cars or block buildings.

Phillip is survived by his wife of 69 years, Blanche, along with children Barb (Gary) Christie, Gary (Penny) Jordahl, and Cheryl (Jim) Jordahl, along with 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and a sister, Alice Johson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Thore Jordahl, Anna Perkins, Olga Winge, Arne Jordahl, Thelma Ritter, Carl Jordahl, and Ruth Moen.
