Wayne Darrington Obituary

Wayne Darrington, formerly of Montevideo, passed away suddenly on March 5, 2024, at the age of 65 at his home in Hertford, NC.

A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.  Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on April 3, 2024

Wayne Harold Darrington was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on January 13, 1959 to the late Micheal Darrington and Bettylou (Snookie) Frances Holien.

Wayne’s family was military, so they lived in quite a few locations until his dad retired from the Navy in 1972. The family then settled in Montevideo, Minnesota. Wayne graduated from the Montevideo school system in 1977 and began working in the construction business with his dad. In 1981 he enlisted in the Navy where he became trained as a radioman and enjoyed visiting different parts of the country. In 1987 Wayne was honorably discharged. Though he left the Navy, he continued to live in the Virginia and North Carolina area, working for a defense contractor. He utilized his knowledge of construction by doing side jobs in that field and eventually leaving defense work to pursue only construction. Wayne spent his free time attending concerts, planning road trips, and spending time with his friends. He enjoyed and treasured the time he spent with his dog Callie and his horse.

Wayne is survived by his daughter, Mackenzie Lynn Good (Brian); brother, Scott Darrington (Karen); sister, Cindy Ottinger (Douglas); and nephew, Mitchell Ottinger. He also leaves behind many cousins, aunts, and uncles, as well as his beloved dog, Callie.
