Mabel Ida (Paulson) Lund was born on June 26, 1928 in Foster Township, Big Stone County, MN to John and Cora (Thorstenson) Paulson.  When Mabel was young, her family moved to Coeur d’ Alene, ID where she attended school and Sunday school.  The family returned to Spring Grove and the family farm.  In 1945, father, John died of a heart attack and the family moved to Ortonville, MN.  Mabel graduated from Ortonville High School when she was 17.  She started working at the Ortonville Court House doing abstracts in the Register of Deeds office.

On October 4, 1947, she was united in marriage to Clifford Lund.  The couple moved to Montesano, WA and Mabel worked as a bookkeeper for a plumbing company while saving to build a home in the 1950's.  When the couple were able to move into their new home, Mabel loved to tend to the yard and the flower gardens.  She went on to work as a receptionist for a doctor’s office until she retired in 1993.  Cliff and Mabel did some traveling to Oregon, California, Washington DC, New Mexico, Minnesota, South Dakota, and Alaska.

Mabel and Clifford never had any children of their own but enjoyed nieces and nephews of their extended family.  Cliff passed away on December 26, 2012 and Mabel was unable to remain in her home.  She came back to the Milbank area and was able to stay with her sister for 7 months before moving into Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson in 2014.

She loved photography, learning the computer, and sending emails to her family.  She enjoyed watching raccoons and other wildlife, feeding humming birds, and watching birds.  She also enjoyed taking visitors to the Pacific Ocean, the Rain Forest, and sights around her home in Washington.

Mabel is survived by her sister, Edna Angerhofer of Milbank, SD; brother, Robert (Charlene) Paulson of Crivitz, WI; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Clifford; a sister, Ursella “Sissy” (Bob) Frietag; a brother, John (Gladys) Paulson; and a brother-in-law: Lenard Angerhofer.
